Dr John Keogh is a barrister, mediator and arbitrator. He has been awarded Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD) by UTS Sydney.  Honoured as the UTS “Graduate of the Year” for 1999. Thesis title: Environmental Due Diligence – Legal Principles, Corporate Strategies.

He has been an arbitration and mediation member of the NSW Workers Compensation Commission since its inception.  He has extensive experience in the investigation and determination of disputes as an arbitrator and mediator.

Derek Minus is a barrister-at-law and a dispute resolution specialist; an Accredited mediator, Chartered arbitrator and Expert determiner.

An advanced and Accredited Mediator since 1992, he has conducted well over 1,000 mediations and conciliations for government panels and private matters. He is an accredited member of the official NSW Rural Assistance Authority farm debt mediation panel. He has worked to assist farmers and people living in rural areas to resolve their disputes since he was first qualified as a Farm Debt mediator in 1997.

As a former member of the NSW Workers Compensation Commission (WCC) for a period of 10 years, he regularly travelled to NSW regional centres, Ballina, Byron Bay, Coolangatta, Tamworth, Dubbo, Orange, Albury, Griffith and Wagga to conducted hearings to resolve disputes and conciliate claims for compensation for farm related injuries.

He has worked directly for the NSW Farmers Association, conducting training and providing advice for Dairy Farmers and their cooperatives in their negotiations with producers, mediated disputes between egg producers on chicken cage regulations and advised on resolving disputes with coal seam gas companies seeking access to farms.

His experience as a lawyer for over 20 years and his experience as a company executive in charge of the financial management of business enterprises, has given him the experience to clearly understand both the legal and financial implications of the decisions that farmers have to make during the mediation process.  He is able to assist farmers and their financial providers, to properly explore all of the options available for the resolution of their dispute.

He has mediations rooms available in the Sydney CBD and regularly travel to country areas to conduct mediations.

He has been selected as a member of the Family Settlement Week service in 2012 to conduct the mediation of property dispute matters referred from the Federal Magistrates Court. He is approved as an Arbitrator; appointed by the Chief Judge to the list of District Court arbitrators for 2011/2012; and the panel of Local Court arbitrators for 2012/2013, approved by the NSW Bar Association as an Expert Determiner, re-accredited as a Mediator with the NSW Bar Association and appointed to the NSW Supreme Court list and the District Court list of mediators for 2011/2012. He is dual qualified as both an international arbitrator and mediator by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.

John McDermott is a solicitor in private practice in New South Wales. He has been the principal at McDermott & Associates for a period of over 35 years during the early portion of which he developed the skills which led to his being accredited by the Law Society of New South Wales as a Business Specialist and as a Property Specialist.
